Scouts BSA & Cub Scouts
The IMAG offers Merit Badge Workshops –> YOUR WAY! You tell us what workshop(s) you’re interested in, and we’ll find the best date that works for your Pack or Troop! You can have a Cub Scout, Webelo or Merit Badge workshop on a weekend day, or select two workshops with a lunch break between them. We also offer a camp-out or camp-in Workshop Overnighter with an evening pizza snack and breakfast!

Cub Scout Workshops
All Cub Scout workshops are taught by qualified teachers and complete all requirements unless otherwise stated.
The program fee includes the workshop materials and admission to The IMAG for the participant prior to or after the workshop. Workshop fees do not include badges, belt loops, or pins.
Workshop Length: 2 hours
Workshop Cost: $14 per scout, with a minimum of 10 scouts required and a maximum of 24 scouts allowed.
Each scout or group of scouts is required to have 1 chaperone present per 10 registrants during the workshop, with a minimum of 2-deep leadership in compliance with BSA regulations. Admission is $5 per chaperone.
Cub Scout Workshop Options
Tiger Cubs:
Sky is the Limit: Learn what you see in the night skies & how to read a star chart, how to use a telescope and binoculars, see what astronauts were scouts when young, make a constellation model and more in this fun workshop!
Stories in Shapes: Have fun with virtual art gallery tours from around the world and select some artworks that you enjoy, create a art pieces with different mediums!
Wolf Cubs:
Digging in the Past ($16/scout): Learn about Dinosaurs by playing a game, create your own dinosaur, make a plaster fossil cast & edible fossil treat, and see how a real fossil dig looks as you do a dino dig!
Finding Your Way: Find your hometown on a map as you learn how to read maps, draw a neighborhood map, learn how to use a compass as you go on a scavenger hunt outside!
Bear Cubs:
Forensics: Compare your fingerprints with others, learn how chromatography helps solve crimes, practice detective skills as you analyze different substances, learn how animals help to gather evidence and see what jobs you can do in forensic science!
Super Science: Investigate static electricity with balloons and our IMAG lightning display, learn what a sink or float investigation is and practice color-morphing and color-layering activities while becoming a Jr. scientist!
Modular Design: Have fun learning the history of marbles, how they’re made, learn rules to play 3 different marble games then make up one to play with family and friends and make your own marble bag to take home!
Webelos/Arrows of Light Enhanced Elective Adventures
These Enhanced Elective Adventures are for Webelos and Arrow of Light scouts! Designed with the transition to Scouts BSA in mind, these workshops last a little longer (2.5 hours) to account for enhanced lessons, with supplies included. All Cub Scout workshops are taught by qualified teachers and complete all requirements unless otherwise stated.
The program fee includes the workshop materials and admission to The IMAG for the participant prior to or after the workshop. Workshop fees do not include badges, belt loops, or pins.
Enhanced Workshop Length: 2.5 hours
Enhanced Workshop Cost: $16 per scout, with a minimum of 10 scouts required and a maximum of 24 scouts allowed. Each scout or group of scouts is required to have an adult present during the workshop. Each scout or group of scouts is required to have 1 chaperone present per 10 registrants during the workshop, and 2-deep leadership minimum to comply with BSA regulations. Admission is $5 per chaperone.
Webelos/Arrows of Light Enhanced Workshops
Art Explosion: Discover what kind of art you like as you take virtual art gallery tours around the world, create two different self-portraits, make a recycled sculpture, practice origami, then make your choice of an iron-on logo or a short comic portraying a Scout Law!
Earth Rocks!: Learn what Geology is and why it’s important, perform tests to identify your rocks or some of IMAG’s collection, compare Florida’s geological features with another state and learn what geological materials make up your home! If you have a rock collection, bring it in to share!
Engineer: Learn what an engineer does & what different types there are, how to read blueprints, design & make a useful object, and discover how ancient engineers built objects that are still standing!
Core Adventure: First Responder (Webelos only): Learn what First Aid is as you are trained on what to do after an accident; how to treat bleeding, heart attacks, choking and more. You’ll learn what to do for many common medical problems that can occur outdoors, make a first aid kit, and talk with a first responder or medical professional!
Game Design: Learn what elements are needed to make a good game, safety rules for online gaming, and design & build your own game for others to play!
Into the Woods: Learn about parts of a tree & different tree types around the world, how to identify Florida trees & plants and see how they help animals, identify useful things made of wood, learn what growth rings & tree bark tell us about a tree, and select a plant to take home and care for!
Modular Design: Learn what modular design is, find examples around you, build models with and without instructions then write building instructions for someone else to follow!
Merit badge workshops are taught by qualified merit badge counselors. All scouts MUST bring their own worksheet and Blue Card. All pre-requisites listed with each workshop must be completed prior to the workshop.

Workshop Cost: $18-$30 per scout, with a minimum of 10 scouts required and a maximum of 24 scouts allowed.

Boy Scout Workshop Options
Art: Pre-Reqs: #1abc, #2 & #3. Cost is $21 per scout and $5 per chaperone. Explore the elements of art and learn design principles as you create four artworks using different mediums. Astronomy: Pre-Reqs are: 1a-d, 5c, 6c. Best done on an Overnight Camp In/Camp Out to complete Reqs 4 and # 8b. Cost is $21 per scout and $5 per chaperone. Energy: Pre-Reqs: 1ab, 4ab, 8. Cost is $21 per scout and $5 per chaperone. Learn about different forms of energy, your family’s impact on available energy, different ways usable energy can be produced and which ones are non-renewable. > Scouts must do a 14-day energy audit (#4) in their home before the workshop (sample included in worksheet). Have fun as you understand gaming better by playing a familiar game then changing the rules, designing, testing then improving your own game, and talking with a game development professional!
Geology: Pre-Reqs: 1, 4 (Bring in your rock collection if you have one!) Cost is $21 per scout and $5 per chaperone. Indian Lore: Pre-Req: #1 (will also go over in the workshop). Cost is $21 per scout and $5 per chaperone. Oceanography: Pre-Reqs: 2, 8a-> [Write a 500-word report on Oceanography. Space Exploration: 4+ hours. Pre-Reqs: 1a-d, 3a-I, 8 (rockets will be built in class). Cost is $28 per scout and $5 per chaperone (each scout gets their own chemical rocket to keep). Learn about rockets and space programs in this fun workshop! Sustainability*: 4 hours. Pre-Reqs: 1, 2 (Water) a., (Food) a., (Energy) b. or c., (Stuff) a. Cost is $24 per scout and $5 per chaperone. This important merit badge has lots of family involvement and the scout has to track several family activities for 2-4 weeks. Either this merit badge or Environmental Science is needed for Eagle. Learn the importance of conservation and stewardship of natural resources as you see how your family’s lifestyle affects the environment. Weather: Pre-Reqs: 1,5,7, [10: Give a 5-min weather-safety talk to a group (Cub Pack). Make a video or sound recording and bring in or email to counselor]. Cost is $21 per scout and $5 per chaperone. Overnight Programs
Don’t just complete a merit badge. Make it memorable! The IMAG is now offering new overnight programs for groups of 15-40 people. See behind the scenes, tour the museum, learn a new subject, and sleep with the fossils! $50 per person; Scout troops get two free adult chaperones in compliance with Scout regulations. Prices include a late-night pizza snack and breakfast the next morning.
