Boy Scout Workshops

Merit badge workshops are taught by qualified merit badge counselors. The program fee includes the workshop materials and admission to The IMAG for the participant prior to or after the workshop. All scouts MUST bring their own worksheet and Blue Card. All pre-requisites listed with each workshop must be completed prior to the workshop. Workshop fees do not include badges. Each scout or group of scouts is required to have 1 chaperone present per 10 registrants during the workshop. Admission is $5 per chaperone.

Workshop Length: 3 hours

Public Workshop Cost: $18 per scout, with a minimum of 10 scouts required and a maximum of 25 scouts allowed

Private Workshop Cost: $18 per scout, with a minimum of 10 scouts required and a maximum of 25 scouts allowed

Cub Scout Workshops

All Cub Scout workshops are taught by qualified teachers and complete all requirements, unless otherwise stated. The program fee includes the workshop materials and admission to The IMAG for the participant prior to or after the workshop. Workshop fees do not include badges, belt loops, or pins. Each scout or group of scouts is required to have an adult present during the workshop. Each scout or group of scouts is required to have 1 chaperone present per 10 registrants during the workshop. Admission is $5 per chaperone.

Workshop Length: 2 hours

Public Workshop Cost: $12 per scout, with a minimum of 10 scouts required and a maximum of 25 scouts allowed

Private Workshop Cost: $12 per scout, with a minimum of 10 scouts required and a maximum of 25 scouts allowed

Saturday, September 7: Cub Scout University

10:00am-2:00pm

Spend the day at The IMAG and complete some of the requirements for different badges and adventures by completing a scavenger hunt in our exhibits and special hands-on activities set up just for scouts, as well as enjoying a private science show and animal encounter that also fulfill several requirements. Scouts will also have the chance to win FREE registration for a Fall Workshop and Scout Leaders/Parents can learn more about public and private Scout Programs.

Event Length/Cost: 10am-2pm/ $12 per scout

Learn about chemistry, the states of matter, physical vs. chemical changes, and more as you conduct some fizzy, foamy, and messy hands-on experiments in this workshop!

Learn about robotics as you design, build & test Lego Mindstorm robots; conduct races with our Spheros & Ollies & build a vibrobot!

Meet some of our reptile and amphibian Animal Ambassadors and learn more about them from our Keepers. Observe them in their indoor and outdoor enclosures, learn about their eating habits and more.

Boy Scout Nova/STEM Shoot Workshop

1:00pm-4:00pm

Explore physics while launching marshmallow with catapults, sending marbles and pool balls zooming through roller coasters, and searching for satellites in the sky!

Learn about electricity as you build an electromagnet, use Snap Circuits to build circuits with a working light and buzzer, and make a greeting card that lights up!

Learn about technology, build battery-powered and wind powered model cars, look for the checkered flag, and participate in a race in this STEM workshop!

Boy Scouts: Space Exploration Merit Badge

Spend an evening exploring space as you use our computers to design a space pioneer trading card; build and launch Alka Seltzer rockets, stomp rockets, pressurized soda bottle rockets and a chemical rocket; and learn about historic and current space missions. Campers will also get to attend a Rocket themed live science show featuring Whoosh tubes, combustion demonstrations, our toilet paper launcher and bottle rockets!

Pre-requisites: 1a-d, 3 (definitions), 8

Cost per Individual Scout: $39           Cost per Individual Parent/Chaperone: $20

Troops Registering together will receive 1 adult chaperone free per 10 paid scouts.
