Boy Scout Workshops

Merit badge workshops are taught by qualified merit badge counselors. The program fee includes the workshop materials and admission to The IMAG for the participant prior to or after the workshop. All scouts MUST bring their own worksheet and Blue Card. All pre-requisites listed with each workshop must be completed prior to the workshop. Workshop fees do not include badges. Each scout or group of scouts is required to have 1 chaperone present per 10 registrants during the workshop. Admission is $5 per chaperone.

Workshop Length: 3 hours

Public Workshop Cost: $18-$30 per scout, with a minimum of 10 scouts required and a maximum of 25 scouts allowed

Private Workshop Cost: $18-$30 per scout, with a minimum of 10 scouts required and a maximum of 25 scouts allowed

Cub Scout Workshops

All Cub Scout workshops are taught by qualified teachers and complete all requirements, unless otherwise stated. The program fee includes the workshop materials and admission to The IMAG for the participant prior to or after the workshop. Workshop fees do not include badges, belt loops, or pins. Each scout or group of scouts is required to have an adult present during the workshop. Each scout or group of scouts is required to have 1 chaperone present per 10 registrants during the workshop. Admission is $5 per chaperone.

Workshop Length: 2 hours

Public Workshop Cost: $12 per scout, with a minimum of 10 scouts required and a maximum of 25 scouts allowed

Private Workshop Cost: $12 per scout, with a minimum of 10 scouts required and a maximum of 25 scouts allowed

Boy Scouts Reptiles and Amphibians Merit Badge 9am-12pm

Pre-requisites: 3, 4, 7

Registration Deadline: Saturday, February 19, 2020 BY 5 PM

Cost per Individual Scout: $18

Meet some of our reptile and amphibian Animal Ambassadors and learn more about them from our

Keepers. Observe them in their indoor and outdoor enclosures, learn about their eating habits and

more.

Boy Scouts Game Design Merit Badge Workshop 1-4pm

Learn about the field of game design and development as you change the rules to some classic games, develop a

Digital or board game, make a prototype, and test your new game with other scouts.

** Scouts will need to prepare for this workshop for one month or the Merit Badge Counselor can hold Blue Cards to review projects from #2 when they are completed.

engineering. Then use the engineering process to complete several hands-on projects.

Learn about chemistry, the states of matter, physical vs. chemical changes, and more as you conduct some fizzy, foamy, and messy hands-on experiments in this workshop!

Boy Scouts Energy Merit Badge 12-4pm

Pre-requisites: 1, 4, 8

** Scouts will need to prepare for this workshop at least 14 days ahead of time in order to complete the Energy

Audit of their home. Otherwise, the Merit Badge Counselor can hold on to their Blue Cards to review the project once it is complete.

producing usable energy, how energy is being wasted, and your family’s impact on energy use, conservation, and

Conduct hands-on soil erosion experiments, examine watershed maps, recreate the hydrologic cycle, test for water

pollution, and learn why soil and water conservation is important.

predicting and reporting the weather using simulators and green screens, conduct science experiments

to learn more about dangerous weather elements, and more.

Work with our Lead Aquarist to learn more about oceanography. Create models, take a behind-the-scenes tour of

our aquariums, and assist with daily tasks like water testing and feeding.

Learn all about water, its structure, uses, and importance in this workshop! Do hands-on experiments exploring the concept of hydrophobia using magic sand, oil, and Scotch Guard. Learn about the water cycle and experiment with water in its different states. Learn about The IMAG’s aquaponics and aquarium systems, as well.
