Group tours are now available with our resident historian, Jim Powers! A group tour is a fun learning experience, highlighting rich local and regional history and the science that made this area flourish. The science of the three “C’s”, Cattle, Cane, and Citrus are economic engines. To grow our community, the science of transportation became prominent, beginning with the Caloosahatchee River, Indian trails, and railroading. The IMAG teaches about weather, wars, Seminoles, and snook too. Each tour is a trip through local history and science in mutual support.
Enjoy a one-hour museum tour learning all that IMAG has to offer (Registration is required). Tours are available for booking from 9-10am every Thursday, except Thanksgiving, beginning November 1, 2018 and ending April 25, 2018.
An additional 40-minute presentation, including a Q&A, may be added on by request, for an additional fee. The three available topics are:
- Early History of Fort Myers and Lee County: includes Calusa and Seminole Indians, Indian wars, forts, the Civil War, and the development of Fort Myers from settlement to city.
- Regional Personalities Who Made Significant Contributions (Good and Infamous): includes store and hotel owners, philanthropists, builders, planters and cattlemen, and moonshiners and hustlers.
