Volunteer & Internship Opportunities
Thank you for considering the IMAG History and Science Center for volunteering. At the IMAG we offer a variety of areas to volunteer in throughout the museum. Find your interest and apply today!
Besides providing exciting opportunities to make a difference for yourself and others, volunteering at the IMAG gives you valuable practical experience and personalized training in various opportunities providing guest services and museum support such as animal and aquarium care, event coordination, exhibit facilitation, and assisting with camps, educational programs, marketing, and administration duties.
Volunteering at the IMAG also provides you with a life-long appreciation for science and history, academic credits for interns, and, as appropriate, a museum membership based on your logged hours.
Animal Care

Our Animal Care Volunteers get the chance to graze tortoises and help our Animal Care team with daily feedings and misting.
Our Animal Care Interns work with our professional museum staff to care for the museum’s live animals, including Ball Pythons, Tegu, and other reptiles, amphibians, insects and spiders.
Aquatics

Our Aquatics Volunteers get the chance to assist our aquarist in daily feeding and maintenance of our various saltwater and freshwater tanks.
Aquarium Interns work with professional museum staff to maintain the museum’s touch tanks and aquariums and care for the critters which inhabit them including Eels, Stingrays, Sharks, Horseshoe Crabs, and a variety of saltwater and freshwater fish and invertebrates!
Education Programs
Our Education Programs Volunteers get to work alongside our Education Director and set up our workshops and weekly educational programs.
Our Education Programs Interns work with our professional museum educators and certified teachers in organizing summer camp sessions and facilitate field-trip experiences for visiting groups. They also work alongside our Eduction Director and develop our Homeschool classes.
History

Our History Volunteers work alongside our resident Historian researching the vast history of Southwest Florida. Volunteers also get the chance to participate in our History Saturdays and help teach our community about SWFL history in a fun and engaging way!
History Interns work alongside our Historian in maintaining our Archives and continuing research into SWFL history, help maintain our current exhibits, and establish new ones.
